Edited image: Used magnetic lasso tool to select my friend and adjusted her tone without altering the background.

Edited image: Used exposure and levels in an attempt to resurrect some of the image details and lighten entire image.

Edited image: Saturated the image more and changed exposure in order to bring out details. I did change the color balance but I didn't make it perfect because I liked the strange colors that happened.

For my self-portraits I decided to play with the idea of internet social network culture and nostalgic computer culture. The first three images were taken in PhotoBooth on my Mac using the backdrop effect. By intentionally interfering with the background detection during this process, I was able to get the exaggerated abstract overlays on the image. Additionally, the background pictures I chose of  Encarta 95 and Solitaire have a nostalgic, retro computer feel because of their reference to old programs and operating systems. Finally, the last image is a screenshot from a video chat website similar to ChatRoulette. Even though it's inherently creepy and perverse, I wanted it to take on a satirical feel from the stereotypical content which exemplifies how video sites are most commonly used for sexual exploitations.
